LPA District 4 Scholarship Program

We have some very exciting news to share! We have established a scholarship program for our District!!!

Pursuing post-secondary education is a life-changing event. Scholarships are awarded in the following order of preference:
  • Members of LPA who have a medically diagnosed form of dwarfism
  • Individuals with dwarfism who are not members of LPA

About Scholarships
As part of our commitment to supporting individuals with dwarfism and the wider community, LPA District 4 is offering educational scholarships to both prospective and current students attending college or vocational schools in the United States. This includes recent high school graduates and adults looking to return to school. Scholarship awards can range from $1,000 to $2,500 (or sometimes more), depending on the availability of funds. A scholarship committee, led by District 4 chapter presidents and the District 4 directors, carefully reviews all application packets.
Scholarship recipients may re-apply up to two additional times. Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee a scholarship award.  Please also note that applying for or being awarded the District scholarship does not make you ineligable to apply or be awarded other LPA scholarships, including National scholarships.

Scholarship Application Packet
Here are some tips to help you organize your scholarship application packet documents that need to be uploaded as part of the application form response. You must include your first and last name in the file name of files that are uploaded!

Cover Letter & Personal Statement: Start with a cover letter that introduces yourself and explains your interest in the scholarship. Highlight your achievements and why you are a good fit for the scholarship. Include a personal statement that provides more detail about your background, goals, and motivations. This is your opportunity to tell your story and make a compelling case for why you deserve the scholarship.

Resume or CV: Add a resume or CV that outlines your academic achievements, extracurricular activities, work experience, volunteer experience and any other relevant information. Make sure it is well-organized and easy to follow.
Letters of Recommendation: Include letters of recommendation from teachers, mentors, or employers who can speak to your qualifications and character. Make sure these letters are recent and relevant to the scholarship.

Proof of College/University Enrollment: Provide copies of your college, university, certificate program enrollment.
Some Helpful Tips
  • Complete the online application by the deadline, April 3. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
  • Proofread, proofread, and proofread! The Scholarship Committee considers spelling and grammar when reviewing applications.
  • Craft a thank you letter if you receive an award.
  • Get involved with LPA! We are a volunteer organization.  Showing a willingness to volunteer reveals much about you to the Scholarship Committee. Ask your local chapter or district officer how you can be of service. Indicate how you plan to help with your personal statement.
  • If you need help, do not be afraid to ask! A high school counselor, college advisor, your parents, or even another college student may all be of service.
Click on the application button below to submit your application form and upload the required documents.  Respond to all questions and upload all requested documents.  Complete the application by Friday, April 3rd at 5:00pm.
